Two Worlds Collide

When I was little, I used to LOVE going to the mailbox to see if I had any mail. Every once in a while my Aunt Ruth or my cousin Amy...or even more exciting - my girl scout pen pal, who would have written me a letter, and I would have words written...just for me!
Now, the mailbox is usually the place where I collect bills and junk mail. Sigh. My "Mom Thoughts" page and your blogs are my proverbial mail boxes of my youth, where I can catch up with my "pen pals" who are now my bloggy buddies (some people in my life refer to you viciously as my "virtual friends", "imaginary friends" or *gasp* my "paper dolls"! But we know that we can form relationships that are very real, over time!)
Well, Bloggy Buddies, today my virtual world of blogging and my real world here in Wisconsin collided! I went out this morning and did my usual things - Thursday Girls (I meet with two accountability partners for Thursday morning coffee, prayer and chat), and then errands. I returned to find a package on my front porch. A package from my Bloggy Buddy Helga from My World. :
I had won Helga's giveaway - a book she had her mother send her from Iceland! A book called, "The Yule Lads: A Celebration of Iceland's Christmas Folklore." And might I say, I am FASCINATED!!!!! Wow, Helga...you sure had some scary stuff to deal with every year, come Christmas time - we sure have it good over here! lol I am so pleased to have won this giveaway. I've lived in a few different states over the years, but I haven't really been anywhere exotic. I love learning about different cultures and different places.

So, let me say - thanks to Helga - I cannot tell you how excited I am to have won this giveaway, in particular. This is right up my alley! I appreciate your generosity! If you haven't met Helga, you should check out her blog - she's moving to Chicago from Virginia and she is just a sweet person who is easy to chat with! I'm sure you'll become bloggy buddies with her in no time!

I have had City on Our Knees by Toby Mac stuck in my head all day! Is that where you got the title from?

I was so happy when I saw you won this because I knew how much you wanted it:)

Oh Pennie, you are so sweet. I think our blogging and real world will eventually. I am moving super close to you...well not super close but closer than Virginia right? LOL Anyway, we really were not as scared of the Yule Lads as the book portrays, that was waaaay back in the day. Like when my great Grandmother was little. We were excited about the Yule Lads because we knew we would get something good in our shoe :o)

Have fun at your Julie and Julia party tomorrow. I finally saw that movie that other night. I thought it was really good :o)

I would LOVE to get together, Laura! I've often thought that! And, if you're ever free on Wed. mornings and are looking for a Mom's Bible study - SAMmy's is a great place...there's about 20 moms from about 15 different Christian church affiliations (no kidding!). One gal even drives from Colfax! 9:30-11am at Faith Community -child care is $2/child. I've always wanted to invite you...and, bring a friend if you want!
