Master Bedroom

I've joined in Clean Mama's Zone Cleaning Challenge, because it seems like a good thing to do! Melissa, if you're reading this right now - this is why you should get into blogging...you would love this! This week is the second week of the challenge. I thoroughly cleaned out my refrigerator, which seems like a gimpy project, but believe you me...it was a brave thing to do! This week's zone is the Master Bedroom.

Now, here are a few before pictures...I am humbling myself here. My bedroom is kind of big, and my camera is kind of poor. So, bear with me. I am pretty good at making my bed, so I stuck to taking close-ups of the problem areas of my room:

See this area? This is my nightstand. This is where I dump some of my many books. Mike doesn't want to get me a bookshelf. The nightstand itself is FULL of books. So, they have overflowed on top and next to the nightstand - and those cords are there because I have a bad back, and I plug the heating pad into it. I just never got around to tucking the extension cord back behind the hamper there...

Man, this is humbling. This is my dresser. You should see Mike's dresser. It's practically spotless. Yes, more books. Kris Ann, do you recognize that picture frame from the Laurel Inn? :) It's my SAMmy's Retreat picture frame from 5 years ago!
(You can see my bed in the mirror - I usually make my bed...some day I'll get a new bedspread, but for now this one's okay.)
Some day we'll paint - when our basement remodeling project is done. Until then, it's dirty white walls for us! But, the basement is coming along pretty nicely! I'll post pics when it's done!

And this is almost my most embarrassing photo of all (the worst is yet to come). My closet is the just the worst, ladies! This is all out of season stuff and tees that I am going to (someday) cut up for a quilt for Aaron and Bridgette - their faves that they grew out of. Do I quilt? Well, I made two, once upon a time. I'm sure I can do it. Maybe when I retire? In another twenty, thirty years??? :) Oh, okay, maybe sooner...

Okay, this is my lowest point. I have an excuse here! We are remodeling the basement and my out of season clothes box is lost in the storage room - honest! So, these are my winter and summer shoes - see the flip flops? It's snowy and VERY COLD in Wisconsin right now. I have to have them taking up space in my closet. With my cute boots and pumps and all my other friends - I mean shoes. Did I mention I LOVE shoes???
So, that's my project for the week...to sift through all this garbage. And make some headway. I plan on getting through it all before Friday - even though I have a dentist appointment for me and the kids tomorrow, a meeting with my Leadership Development Director for SAMmy's on Thursday and SAMmy's on Wednesday and a party to co-host on Friday. On my honor, I will get this done...because I've committed to it, and you all are holding me accountable! This is great! Thanks! This will feel great to be able to show you a CLEAN room! (And my hubby will be grateful, too!)

Your room really doesn't look bad. Yeah the closet is a "little" disorganized and the dresser is cluttered :o) but I have seen so much worse! I am excited to see the after pictures.
