Hey, Bloggy Buddies, please feel free to play along and answer these questions to play along with Mama M's Five Question Friday game! Go to Five Crooked Halos to find out how to link up to the blog hop to find out what others answered, and get them to check your blog out to find out your answers, too! (It's a great way to get more exposure to your blog, too!) :)1. Worst trouble you ever got into as a teenager?
Yeah, as if I'm going to spill that info...you'll have to buy the book, because some day it's going to make some great fiction! :) Let's just say I wasn't always Women's Ministry Leader material...
I've a plethora of things to choose from that I COULD tell you that I'm not proud of. I'd rather not.
2. Are you a morning person or a night person?
I used to be both - when I was in my mid/late-twenties and my hubby and I were dating, I could go to bed at 4am, wake up at 6:30am, and go 100mph all day...and do it all over again. I wore him out! I just didn't need the sleep!
When my hubby and I got married, and he started getting up at 5am for work, and after I had kids, he started requesting I go to bed with him at 9pm. I'd lay in bed for hours staring at the ceiling. Now my sleep clock has changed. We go to bed between 9 and 10pm, and wake up between 4 and 5 am, depending on the day. I'm exhausted by 9 or 10pm! Of course, I'm older now, but I couldn't do what I did in my twenties if I tried - I'd fall down dead on the spot!
3. Are you a one-handed or a two-handed Texter?
Remember what I said about being old???? Well...I don't text. I have a few times - I have younger girlfriends who text me if I have guests over and they don't want to call and interrupt, ("Are they gone yet?") or if they know I'm at the movies ("Sorry I couldn't make it, is it good, or boring?"). It takes me forever to text back - I couldn't tell you if I texted one-handed or two handed...I've only done it a few times. I don't have a Blackberry or one with a keyboard - just an old-fashioned regular one.
4. Democrat, Republican, or Independent..or maybe even Green Party (whatever that is).
I am a Christian, and it's important that the candidate I vote for promotes my values - I wouldn't care if that candidate was Democrat or Republican or Independant or whatever. I would be more apt to look at the issues that really matter to me, and see where they stand on them.
5. Are you a pet person?
Depends. I don't really care for fish or birds, and I'm borderline on cats. My husband always says that pets are like kids - you can tolerate more misbehavior from your own than you can with others - and you always think your own are cuter than the next guy's. :) I think that's funny, but there's a bit of truth to it. I like dogs best, but a dog with character and personality. I'm currently teaching my 2-year old little yipper (which I know is not a charming characteristic) not to maul the people who come to visit - she gets really excited and comes to "greet" them, which includes jumping up to their eyeballs (she's 9 lbs.). When you tell her to sit, she will for 2 seconds, and then jumps again (really, up to their head, then to their shoulders, then to their armpits, then...). See? You don't find this training charming...

So, how DO you get your dog not to maul the visitors? We haven't quite mastered that yet. He's always so happy to see visitors (I'm sure the visitors are not so happy to see him - lol). No matter what we try nothing seems to deter him.
Great post! I'm the same with bed time...9:30 p.m. in bed, 5:30 a.m. out of bed. You get used to it!
Tammy, I'm working on getting Angel (our dog...when visitors come I'm sure they think she's hell's angel!) to sit before I open the door. I've started pretending somebody's at the door and telling her to sit. Then, I start to open the door, & every time she get's up, I shut it again, and tell her to sit, we start over. After about ten minutes of that, I give her a treat. Tiring, but she stays sitting for longer periods of time. We'll see if it works with a real person...
My boxer jumps up on people too and we have started putting our knee up when she jumps and she has stopped jumping up. I think I saw it on the Dog Whisperer or something. It says to knee the dog if it jumps on you and they will stop jumping. I think Angel is too little for that though :o)
I agree with liking your own animals more than others :o)
Stopped by for 5QF, but saw you're reading "The Memory Keeper's Daughter"-- I read that last year, it's a book that stuck with me for a looooong time. Are you liking it?

Confessions From A Working Mom
Elizabeth, I'm about 1/2 way through the book, and I AM liking it.
Great answer for #4 - I'd steal it if I hadn't already posted my own!
And - say, if you sort out how to best train Angel, you're welcome to come over and work the same magic on our new little Henry! :-)
How nice would it be to be able to get through the day on 2-3 hours of sleep!? Think of all that we could get done. I totally agree on the pet/child thing! :)
When we adopted Effie, we did the beginner class at our PetSmart store- it was GREAT! We weren't sure about doing a class, hubs and I have each trained our own dogs before, but we wanted the kids to get to take part. I was really glad. You might check it out!
