Today is full of fun holiday preparations. I'm trying not to be hit with the "Got too much to do blues" this holiday season. I've been successful some years in spreading the holiday preparations out over my December, and other years - not so much. Those other years, my Christmas has been harried, I've been frazzled, and how disappointing - to spend a holiday that's supposed to be centered around Christ's birth exhausted, and full of emotion - and I don't mean the GOOD kind of emotion, either! (Unless "crabby mother" is a good emotion these days...)
So, this year, I'm doing REALLY well on my Christmas shopping - Black Friday was a fun day spent with my sisters-in-law and my mother-in-law (shopping divas, all of them!) - and we not only had a successful shopping day, we enjoyed the heck out of ourselves!
Today, I have "Thursday Girls" - my weekly coffee klatch with my friends Bonnie and Robbin - and then I'm off to Kohl's (mega sale!) to use my "Kohl's Cash" I earned Black Friday to get some more Christmas gifts at major discounts. (I'm all about a good deal!)
Then, I'm heading back home to bake Christmas iced sugar cookies and hiding them away. Sunday we're cutting down a Christmas tree, and I want to make it a special time. My kids LOVE Christmas and all of our holiday traditions (we have a LOAD of them) and Aaron - our 14 year old son - is so excited to get a tree this year! Our big, five foot, eight inch boy who is too cool to show emotion is excited to get a Christmas tree. *love it* Sweets also excite him. So, the secret stash of homemade Christmas cookies on Sunday will be worth the extra effort today. I'm smiling just thinking about my secret mission today.
Mike is on an overnight business trip, so the kids and I are on our own. That means it's pizza and movies tonight, folks! Can't say I'm stressed about that! I'll miss my hubby...but I'm looking forward to no dishes (paper plates!) and a laid back night!
So - happy Thursday everyone! And, don't forget to plan ahead this December! Do some fun things for your kids to remember - early in the month...the 25th will creep up on you. It always does!

Totally agree, it can get stressful if you don't plan ahead a little bit. You should blog about all your Christmas traditions, I would LOVE to hear about them. I feel like all my kid traditions are going away as people are growing up and having kids of their own, so I would love to start more new ones with my kids. Thanks for stopping by! :)
sounds like you have some nice family traditions! I can't imagine my boys being teenagers..it feels like that day will NEVER come!
