Assisting Peter Cottontail

Today, Shelly and I went shopping to get stuff to fill the kids' Easter baskets. I stopped at Target first. I was looking for Brach's jelly beans. Our family LOVES Brach's jelly beans. Do you know what's weird? Our town has a shortage of Brach's jelly beans. None at Target. None.
A few years ago, Target used to sell chocolate crosses, and I couldn't find those, either. I really wanted to get some God-honoring things. I knew Shelly and I were headed to the Christian book store, so I just picked up some malted milk ball Robin eggs and two of those cheap, hollow 99 cent chocolate bunnies. Guess what happens when you leave cheap chocolate bunnies in the hot car....
Yep. This is what happens. Guess God didn't like the idea of the bunny, huh? lol I didn 't find this until I got it home. Oh, well...I got something even better, so no big deal. And, 99 cents didn't set me back much. It gave me a good laugh, though.
At the Christian book store I found some great deals, though! I had to share!
I found:

This cool book for Aaron - he's a reader and loves this "Dragons In Our Midst" series. He likes a lot of secular books that have to do with dragons and wizards - but this Christian series he says is really clever. Apparently, in this fiction series, the story line is that the dragons didn't fit on the ark and the story starts there and there's wizards and all sorts of stuff that he really likes.

My sis-in-law got a magazine/book like this for Bridgette for Christmas. It has short articles that are about teenie bopper topics like boys and cell phones and gossip and it gives Christian advice on them all. She really liked it.

I've been trying to get the kids into the habit of spending regular quiet time with God. It's easier during the summer - I have to admit, I haven't been doing too hot of a job during the school year. So, I thought I'd get them each a new devotional. I chose one from "The One Year" series. It has the days labeled, like a calendar, so they can just look up the day - I think that will make it easier. And, I'm partial to this particular series...because...

I've done work for them before. If you're ever in Target or Wal-Mart or a Christian bookstore or Borders or whatever and you see this book, turn to the "September 20th" entry...

You just might see a familiar name...
After Shelly and I went to the Christian book store, we went out to lunch (of course) and then to our hometown chocolatier shop, where I found those chocolate crosses. Thank goodness I picked them up (because I did not know the bunnies had melted in my car at the time), and that shortly after that I headed STRAIGHT HOME!

Have a Blessed Easter, everyone! Enjoy!

I find every year the one thing that you really want for a holiday is unfindable! Why is that?

That is soooo funny about the bunnies!! :)
That's some great stuff you got for your kids baskets. :)
Hey, your daughter might like the Brio magazine from Focus on the Family. I loved that as a teenager. :) I think they have a teen boys magazine, too.

We just commented on each other's blogs at the same time! Ha! After I commented on yours I saw I had a new comment. :)
That would be nice if we lived closer. I enjoy showing and helping people things. :) I know that I learn by doing, too, so I like to help others that way as well.

The melted bunny story is SO funny!
I had that happen once with Chocolate digestive biscuits (British cookies you can buy in Canada!) I transported them across the border for friends... 4 rolls of them... and they melted together into a big gooey mess! =)

Love your book choices...
AND SO cool that you are famous!! =)

I have to ask... what age group is the dragon book series for ??? We like dragons in this house!! =)

Aaron had to bring in my groceries, and he saw the chocolate bunny boxes and thought he was so sly (he didn't see the crosses from Knoke's Chocolate shop..ha ha!). He said, "When can I get my chocolate bunny for Easter?" He thinks he's so sly! Little does he know -he's getting a chocolate puddle! lol

You are so clever with your gifts! This is only my second year doing Easter baskets and I always feel so very baffled at what to put in them. My kids, too, seem to love the secular dragonology type of books - which drives me up the wall crazy. This is a great suggestion for a substitution for them. Thanks for sharing!

And woohoo on the shout out to the awesome woman who contributed in that book! I get to meet her in person in just two weeks!!!

What a HOOT your melted bunnies are!!! LOL!

I think you oughtta juxtapose them with the crosses - the "temporal" and the "eternal".
