Do you like the title of this post? It sounds so drama queen, don't you think? I like it. This is what my life is right now. Drama. Well, come to think of it - those of you who know me personally are probably snickering right now aren't you????!!!! It's always a soap opera. But, this is a different kind of plot line...it's got all of us guessing.
So, I've been kind of in limbo - my doctor can't help me, and I'm not scheduled to see a neurologist until the 26th - a week from today. I have questions (and, I've learned there are PLENTY of people who have opinions they'd LOVE to share and NONE of them line up). What am I to do?
Duh! I have a BIL who is a neurologist! And he only lives 1-1/2 hours away. I spent a while on the phone with him yesterday and it was time well spent. Come to find out, 20% of his patients who have a flare up like this NEVER have another. Never. That's 1 in 5 odds that this will go away in 1 week to 3 months and never come back. That is my brand new prayer request. I hope it is yours, too.
My BIL does rotations at a hospital in Eau Claire - which is just an hour down the highway from me - once a month. He's on his way to his parents' (my MIL's) this morning, so I'm out the door in a little bit with the kids to drop off my MRI's for him to check out and tell me what he thinks. (He's super smart. I apparently, am not...why did I not think of this before???) He's going to get my MRI's back to me before I need them with my appointment with the other neurologist next Friday. (I can't have my BIL as my neurologist...that would be too weird. But, I do want his opinion on my condition and MRI's.) The big plus is that he and his wife are VERY close to my husband and I and they have been praying very hard for us. Now, they will know medical specifics to pray for!
After I drop off the MRI's this morning, we're going to visit my mom (who lives in Eau Claire, too). I'm leaving my kids with her to have lunch with her while I meet some of my friends for lunch. I used to live in Eau Claire. In fact, that's where I started my ministry - SAMmy's. So, our biggest SAMmy's group is there. (Almost 100 women strong!) These friends are all my SAMmy's sisters! (One of them is Shelly K from I Like the Way You Do. I know she's a bloggy buddy of some of you. If you haven't checked out her crafty blog, you should!) Another is Cathy J - she's been commenting lately. She's the Director of that group and is amazing (and is my unofficial therapist...I call her at least once a week to "check in")!!!! Shelby and Sally are the other two - all of them are really good friends and I can't wait to lunch with them!
Then, I'm going back to visit with my Mom some more and collect my kids and tonight, Mike and I are having dinner with our good friends Ron and Jen (of Oils for Wellness). Jen's a SAMmy's Sister from here in Hudson. We're like a Sorority. Once you're in, you're family. Sounds like a Christian mafia, doesn't it? That would make me The Godmother. lol
I do hope I'm not boring you to death here. It's just that there's nothing like a hard hit like this to make you see what really matters. Today reflects this. God/faith, Family, Friends. I'm so glad all of those things were already in place before last week. They are what is sustaining me right now. Even you...I'm so glad you were an established reader - even if you've only been reading me for a week, a month, a year. This is all kind of like an insurance policy. It's too late to establish it once disaster strikes - you can only purchase it in advance. If my faith and all of my relationships weren't rock solid before last week, I couldn't be enjoying today like I am.
Thank God.
I hope yours are established. Take stock, my friends.
