MIA

I know I've been MIA. It's been quite a week. Busy, but not too busy. I had a board meeting that was actually quite fun. They always are, with my Board of Directors...we have treats and coffee and get a lot done and do a ton of work - but we're all friends and have a great time together, too. So, it's always a meeting that we look forward to. I love that. That's how an organization should be run, right?

And, I've been slowly getting some of Aaron's things from his room upstairs to his new closet downstairs. This weekend will be time to get the bulk of the stuff down there. I did take pictures of the empty rooms, but I want to wait to post the pictures until the rooms are furnished, which could take a while. I do warn you, for all you animal lovers out there, my boys are hunters and downstairs is their man cave, so if you love me now and hate to see taxidermied animals, you won't love me for long! Our "man cave" will be full of the hunters' things. I pick my battles, and this is what trips their trigger (no pun intended), so they get to hang their little trophies in the basement room. It fit better in our other home in Eau Claire, which was more rustic. This is a picture of our former living room.

You see the moose antlers over the fire place, but you can't see (because it's a hexagon shaped room) on one wall is a deer head, and another is a fish. We had a family room beneath this sunken living room that was IDENTICAL to this room - same windows, fireplace, etc. (different colored brick and different mantel), that had a bear skin rug and other mounts and old fashioned fishing lures and wildlife art. Now ladies, I know you're jealous...lol

Actually, I don't mind. My only concern is that the rustic decor really fit the house in Eau Claire (pictured above) better than the more modern house that we're currently in here in Hudson. When we were in Eau Claire, our yard was 7 acres of oak woods and it was just a more rustic house. I cannot envision what our new family room will look like with all that stuff in it. I probably shouldn't worry - Mike is actually a pretty good decorator, so I should trust him. He'll pull it off. He always does.

Anyhow, this weekend will consist of moving Aaron downstairs and looking for family room sofas and ordering them. We also wanted to launch our boat and get some bluegill fishing in! I better get to the store and buy some quick lunchy and dinner fixin's we can take on the boat. I'm thinking sub sandwiches and single servings of chips. (Last time Mike got stuff for fishing, he bought one large bag of chips. The kids were touching FISH and WORMS and dug in the bag of chips...then said "Want some, Mom???" Uh....no thanks....I had my daily recommended allowance of fish slime, thanks...and dirt and chips doesn't really do it for me, either.)

I hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend!

After we finished our basement, a.k.a. man-cave, I told Mark he could decorate it however he wanted it. But then he started talking big football heads and stuff like that. So I vetoed that and decorated it myself. Occasionally he tells me that he hates the smell of the candles that are hanging on the wall.....
