5QF for May 14th

Alright, girls! It's time for our Friday meme...Five Question Friday! Head on over to Mama M's at My Little Life and she'll tell you how to join in the blog hop...it's fun, it's thought-provoking and it's a great way to learn what the blogging community thinks about these same questions! But, whether you play or not, be sure to comment...because I love comments!

1. Take your pick...date night, girls night out, or night out alone?

Well, it's definitely not a night out alone. BORING!!!! I am a social creature, that's for sure!

I like date nights - especially when Mike and I have been ships passing in the night, and we have something special planned - or we're going out with another couple...a double date night night? Those are FUN! And, some of my favorite date nights are when we pick up a few DVD's and eat nachos and ice cream in front of the t.v. Or, our annual DATE WEEKEND when we go up to the North Shore and spend it completely alone and get a nice room with a hot tub and fireplace during New Year's weekend and have a ton of fun! Those are fun times, let me tell you! Because, my hubby works long hours...so when we get away together it IS like we're dating!

But...I also LOVE girls nights out. I even like girls days out. I have an incredibly creative group of girly friends and we do dinner & movie nights out, but we also come up with theme parties that are fun, too.

I can't choose between my hubby and my girlfriends! I love them both...it's a tie!
2. Can you touch your nose with your tongue?

No, I can't. I can't lick my elbow, either. My son told me that some girl in his class can, though. (That was a conversation we had just yesterday...)
3. What is your favorite flower and why?

I love Gerber Daisies. They are my favorite flower, because they look so whimsical. On Mother's Day weekend, my niece - who lived near us during her 4 years of college, but now lives about 3 hours away now that she's in vet school - stopped over for dinner. She remembered that I loved them and brought me a potted Gerber Daisy and a card that said "Sometimes you're a second mom - Sometimes you're a friend." Isn't that SWEET?
4. If you could go back in time, what advice would you give yourself?

Have you ever heard that Brad Paisley song, "If I Could Write A Letter To Me?" Every time I hear that song, I long to go back to when I was 13 or so and pull myself aside and give myself a whole lotta guidance. I could have saved myself a lot of trouble.

I would begin by addressing some self esteem issues I had. (Didn't most of us at that age?) Those, and fear, kept me from attempting things I could have blossomed in. I regret that. I would then go on to encourage my young self to take steps to better herself by thinking about college. (A big regret is I went one year and never returned - and I had GOOD GRADES! What a stupid move!) And I would coach her to not be boy crazy...I made a ton of bad choices because I was afraid no boy would like me. I actually quit cheerleading because a boy thought the skirts were too short (and I LIKED being a cheerleader...but I guessed I thought I liked him more), I didn't go into certain classes because my not-as-intelligent boyfriend wouldn't get to see me as much...ugh! Not good choices.

I would give myself some career guidance. What could I have been if I had the kind of career guidance my kids are getting?

But most of all, I would tell me at 13 that things will be okay. That I should shoot for the stars and not settle - because I end up with a really good life. I would take me in my arms (what a weird sentence!) and tell myself it would be alright. I would encourage myself to protect the underdog and those who were weaker and to do what I knew was right. And that there was a bigger life waiting for me outside of Milwaukee. I wouldn't be who I thought I was forever. People change.
5. If you won the lottery, what is the very first thing you would do?

Honestly, put aside a certain percentage for savings and tithing...

but after that????

I'd take my family to Hawaii!!!! Uh...with a new wardrobe...

Wasn't that FUN?????? Have a great weekend!!!!

I want something that is big enough for all of us and some. I honestly don't know what else I would do with the money though...oh, I would go shoping :o) I need new clothes and I "want" some more shoes LOL!

Have a great weekend :o)

If only we knew then what we know now! We could have saved ourselves a lot of trouble! Oh well, I guess that's part of the learning process.

Hawaii, that sounds wonderful about now!

And you'd take our dear friend Marianne with you to Hawaii, as your tour guide, right?!?!

I love gerber daisies, too! The gift and card from your niece is SO sweet. I love stories like that! And I also love Iris', PEONIES (my love), dahlia's, and tulips :)

I can touch my nose with my tongue. Nah, nah, nah nah nah :p But isn't it physically impossible to lick your elbow? I'm 99% sure it is...

My girls can lick their elbows with their tongues, and they can lick their armpits. We tried at supper the other night. I can lick my armpit, but not my elbow. Try it :)
Umm....when/if you win the lottery, I expect you to take me to Hawaii with you. It's my dream to go there!!

Kyle can lick his elbow with his tongue. He just showed me. He said to tell you he's flexible, athletic, and has a long tongue. I'm so lucky!
