Head on over to My Little Life and Mama M. will tell you how to join our Friday blog hop. It's fun, it's fab - it's a Friday tradition! Yes...and all the cool kids are doin' it! Can't you just FEEL the peer pressure building??? This week's questions are really fun!
1. What is your worst memory of your siblings?
Okay, this will probably gag most of you, but I honestly don't have any. My sisters are 9, 7 1/2 and 6 1/2 years older than I...so they were my little mommies. I was like their dress up doll. They doted on me - still do. Can't say I don't love it.
My brother is two years younger than I am, and we were partners in crime. We fought at times, but nothing unusual. That was the worst of it. My parents would have creamed us if we would have done anything horrible to each other. We really all were friends. What can I say? We still are, to this day. All five of us.
I did have cousins living all around me that were like my siblings. Including myself and my siblings, there were 25 of us! We all walked to school together and went to church together. We were quite the pack! And my cousin Amy lived next door - she was my age. We were inseperable (until they moved away when I was in Kindergarten). But, Amy could be a stinker. She would always try to make me out to be a fool. She'd tell me that her dad switched the hot and cold water faucets when I went for a drink. I'd refuse to believe her, but when I'd go for the cold water, she'd grab my hand. Finally, I'd go for the hot water that she swore was the cold water. Then, she'd laugh at me when I took a swig of the warm water. Ugh! Amy had this Mrs. Beasley doll - remember her? The stuffed granny doll with square, wire glasses? Ugh! Well, Amy's mom - my Aunt Anita - gave Amy some cookies to bring outside to share with me. Amy brought them outside and said there were only enough for her and Mrs. Beasley!!! I hated that doll! So, when Amy went inside to get more cookies for her and Mrs. Beasley, I buried Mrs. Beasley in the sandbox! So there!
2. What was YOUR naughtiest childhood memory? (Must be something YOU did, no pawning it off on someone else!)
Oh, childhood does not mean teenage years...that is when I turned into something horrible. I plead the fifth on those years.
And, I was pretty innocent as a little girl - BUT when I was in kindergarten, I wanted to get my three year old brother David in trouble. So, we were downstairs in the basement. I gave him a permanent black magic marker and told him how to write the word "POOPS" (which was a filthy word in my book). I didn't tell him it was a naughty word, of course - I just told him to write it...on the box we stored the fake Christmas tree in! So-there it was IN DAVID'S HANDWRITING! (Nope - I didn't do it!) Of course, I didn't think ahead enough to figure out that he was three...my parents knew that he didn't know how to spell, so SOMEBODY would have had to have coached him....perhaps the only other SOMEBODY who was at home with him....uh...maybe I shouldn't go into a life of crime...ANYHOW...we kept that Christmas tree for years...and the box. So, every year, I was shamed while the story was recounted and laughed about. Because my family loves a good story.
Oh - I can tell you something I JUST did...my sister Lynda (one of the many) is at my mom's house, because my mom just had surgery two weeks ago. I bought my mom a funny Mother's Day card. On the front there is a picture of a little girl in a tutu and a monkey and a tutu. Inside it says "Happy Mother's Day from me and my sister." hahahaha I made sure to send it early, so Lynda can read it...I love to tease her! I called my sis Deanna and told her about it. We're waiting to hear about it. Lynda's coming over for dinner tonight... :)
3. Where do you like to go to relax?
Without question, the North Shore of Lake Superior...Two Harbors, MN area. Beautiful country...Split Rock lighthouse area. This July I have a road trip planned with my sisters, two nieces, my daughter and my mom. The Brockman Girl Road Trip. All motorists on Hwy. 61...consider yourself warned!
4. What was the last thing you won?
I think it was the book I won from Helga of My World when she had her giveaway last Christmas. It was a book from Iceland...bet she didn't know she'd be living back there so soon!
5. If you could be on a game show, which would you choose?
Without question, it would be Wheel of Fortune! I am a word nerd, through and through.
I hope you play along...and I hope you leave a comment. I am looking forward to a FABULOUS FRIDAY! I've had a tough couple months and not a lot of play time (and I'm a girl that requires lots of fun!) and today is mostly play! An old friend, Mindy, is visiting her parents who happen to live near me, so she's stopping by this morning. I haven't seen Mindy in years! This afternoon my friend Deqo is visiting me and bringing me a rice dish from her native Somalia. And this evening, my sister and niece are coming for dinner and maybe even my mom. I just love having company and my house is squeaky clean, so no worries! I hope you have a great Friday...can't wait to read your comments and hear what you have planned for today!

anyway... just wanted to come wish you a Happy Mothers Day! =) Hope you are spoiled! I am getting my wish!! he he!
My sisters and I were really close too and we got along really well. The worst memory I have of when I was younger in regards to my sisters is when my sister Birgitta was attacked by a dog. We were just talking about this yesterday...it was horrible and I watched the whole thing and remember every detail of it. I felt so helpless seeing the dog attack her. I ran up to them and starting hitting the dog with all my might and it didn't do anything, the dog kept attacking her. She is ok, thank God!! The dog almost pulled her top lip off and left some scars on her arm but she was so lucky that there was a plastic surgeon at the hospital when she came and he sewed her up. The scar looks great.
Phew...I didn't mean to go into a full blown story there :o)
Poops....LOL!!!!!
I have to say that I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be living here in Iceland. I am really starting to like it though. It didn't seem real for a long time but it is finally starting to feel like I am home. My house is all coming together and the boys are so happy here. I haven't cried and I haven't been depressed since I came here.....I love it!!! I was really afraid that I would be regretful and get depressed when I came here but instead I am happy and I feel so right about the decision I made :o)
I am having a girls night tongiht and I am really looking forward to it.
I hope you had a good time yesterday! Have a great weekend!!!l
