The picture coupled with the article is one of the poems stamped into the concrete ... and it cracks me up. It is by St. Paul schoolteacher Sean Fleming. My hubby chuckled as he read it and passed the paper to me. (He's not usually a lover of poetry, as I am, but this one tickled his fancy.) The poem reads:
"Said one young man to his young bride,
'I'm so sad my dad just died.'
'Let's talk of it,' she softly cried.
'Um, I just did.' the man replied."
Yep. A lot of wisdom in that poem. A lot of wisdom, indeed.
My hubby laughed because this is how many of our conversations go. Early on in our marriage my husband told me something. (I can't even remember what it was, exactly.) I asked him how he felt about the situation. He looked at me perplexed. I wanted him to talk more in depth about it. He said, "Sorry, Pen, you're looking for something that isn't there...I don't FEEL anything about the situation. It is what it is." So this poem is SO FUNNY to me. The man said all he had to say about his dad's death in one sentence - the wife wanted him to continue on about it. That about sums it up, doesn't it? Am I alone in this? This describes the communication style between a lot of husbands and wives, am I right?:)

Don't you love how men can have a 10 word conversation and be done talking about the subject LOL. This is my husband all the way!!!
Yep! My hubby doesn't want to talk in depth unless it's centered around football!
