Just Asking for Trouble

This morning, my kids and I were goofing off while they were making their lunches for school. I took Aaron's sandwich bag and pretended to sneeze into it (he's a germ-a-phobe).
Aaron pretended to be shocked and said, "If we did that you'd ground us!"
I teased back, "NOW you're starting to catch on!"
He said that he thought I should be grounded. It took me two seconds to think about it.
"You mean send me to my room?"
"Yep." He agreed.
"Without electronics? Only books?" (His version of hell.)
He started to nod.
"Now let me get this straight -" I began, "all I can do is stay in my room and READ?" I got a big smile on my face.
Understanding came over his eyes. What I would give for a good day - heck, sign me up for a week of good books and confinement to my room - no housework or pestering by anyone.
It may have been prounounced "grounded" back when I was in high school, but once you have children, they call it "vacation!"

You've got it, Shelly! And then, I started saying "You'll send me to my room...Without a MOP? Without a VACUUM? Without an IRON? Without a WASHING MACHINE?" and he kept saying "Enough, Mom!" and I wouldn't stop. He got the picture..."Stop the martyr act, Mom - this isn't funny any more! I can't take it! I do whatever you want - Just stop it!" ha ha ha

Oh goodness, it definitely does feel like it would be a vacation to hang out in your room with a book or ten! What a hoot! I love to hear how your relationship with your kids is so fun and playful - I think that's awesome!

Missing you, sweetie!

HAHA...that is so true. I often tell my kids that mommy is going for a time out. Then they say, "why, because you are a bad boy?" Something like that.
