Momma Needs New Sheets

Yesterday, I spent a good portion of the day cooking and baking in preparation for my hubby's Montana hunting trip. Yes, you got that right - Mike's trip. 2 pans of lasagna for the crew, and lots of my Secret Recipe Chocolate Chip Cookies (that's what they're called...the recipe's not really so secret...you can have the recipe if you want...secret ingredient? Cinnamon. And rolled Oats.)
I was baking ALL DAY, though...12 dozen cookies!!!! I don't have a lot of time before he leaves on his trip - my schedule's packed - his trip is a few weeks out...I'm planning ahead and I'm going to freeze them. I was working very hard for my Sweetie. All day.
Ouch! I think I pulled a muscle patting myself on the back so hard. :) But, don't these babies look good????
While I was doing my baking (with Bridgette's help), I took a good look at my cookie sheets. Momma needs new sheets, my friends. But, these sheets tell some good stories...
See all these markings? It's kind of like looking for pictures in the clouds...except I can see pictures of cut-out cookies in these outlines. I see some ginerbread men and stars and angels. Making cookies was never so fun!

Now, the story this cookie sheet tells is worth a thousand words! This is a frightening story about my true lack of baking skills - that and my lack of patience. One day, I decided to make pumpkin seeds (can you just picture that?). I used a recipe and everything! (As if many people need a recipe for PUMPKIN SEEDS!) They weren't getting done fast enough for me, so I put them on "BROIL". (Not a good idea for the easily-distracted...) Well, let's just say that pumpkin seeds ARE flammable - and, lucky for me, I had just bought silicon oven mitts that go practically all the way up to my elbows - so, when the smoke alarm went off, and the dog started barking, I was able to handle everything very well. My poor husband ascended the stairs, swishing black smoke aside just to see me running with a flaming pan out the door. I hosed that baby off in our front yard. I looked up at Mike and just said "pumpkin seeds." Enough said.
So, while I do need new cookie sheets, it's almost worth it to keep the old ones...even if just for conversation pieces, don't you think?

Maybe you can frame them and put them on the fireplace mantle?! :) I love this - it's nice to know that other people have huge oopses in the kitchen, too! :)

Around Thanksgiving, when I am cooking for the family, my mom always comments on the way my sheets look. I get new ones every year for Christmas :)
