Monday Miscellany

Time for the random rundown of the weekend events...and for you to tell me how YOUR weekend went! Inquiring minds want to know! ;)

Mike was gone all weekend...ice fishing with friends from our OLD hometown SEVERAL moves ago...almost 20 years ago now.

Since Mke was out of town, I got to go to conferences ALONE. Yipee!

Not entirely alone. One way to get a child to never forget to turn in assignments is to bring them along to their high school conferences. Very effective. I am one clever mommy.

Bridgette came back from a babysitting job (6 year old triplets!), banana bread in hand, with a note attached. "Pennie - I hope you enjoy your weekend with Jodie. You two can have this for breakfast. Love, Kimberly" This is a perk for letting your daughter babysit for your friend's kids. Thanks, Kimberly!

I took a few meals to a sick friend.

I stayed in touch with a friend who spent her weekend with her sick dad at the hospital. Wished I could have held her hand the whole time, but we were able to text back and forth, at least. Love you! :)

Jodie came Friday, but stopped at the wrong house. She stopped next door at Howard & Theresa's. Theresa opened the door and said, "I don't know you." Jodie was standing there with her suitcase and said, "Well, then you probably don't want me staying overnight, huh?" She cracks me up! Theresa asked her who she was looking for and then directed her over to our house.

Jodie gave me a bar of organic lemon soap. She said it was to remind me every morning when I took a shower that when life handed me lemons, I was to make lemonade. We're two peas in a pod...she's a glass-half-full kinda girl, too.

Our retreat was so fun! The concert was great, and the speaker the next day - Susie Larson - is one of my favorite authors and speakers. She has a radio program out of the Cities that I plan on looking up. Maybe I'll write some more on the retreat during this week's posts.

The nice part was that I wasn't in charge of ANYTHING. It was good this year to sit back and relax and just have time to enjoy.

I did get a lot of ideas for our next retreat, though. I kept thinking of ways to implement things they did into our next event.

I didn't take pictures. Again. Well, I took four pictures. Just of people's faces. Ugh! I even bought a mini-SD card for my phone...so it would be convenient. I did see my friends Naomi and Kris Ann take a bunch of photos. Maybe they'll email me copies. I used to be good at taking pictures! I don't know what happened!

Sunday after church, Aaron and I went to Target and he showed me a gadget so I could upload the pictures from my phone's mini SD card onto my computer. I bought it. I don't know what I'd do without the technological advice of my son! He's good to me!

Today's laundry and meal planning day. So, I'm off to do my devotions after I throw a load of laundry in. I just wanted to connect with you all and say hi, and let you know how my weekend went. It went FABULOUS! Please tell me what you did. If you leave a comment, I promise to look you up!

I'm so glad you had a great weekend with your friend!
Mine was mixed. Some great moments with my sister and her family, then very low moments with my brother. Don't you hate it when people you love put their "hate" on?

Jodie sounds like such a fun character :) I am glad to hear your weekend went well or as you put it fabulous!!!

Friday Tyrique had a birthday sleep over. He had 3 friends stay the night and then Markus and Kobe got to join in the fun. The big boys stayed up all night playing PS3 and had a blast.

Saturday I stayed home with the boys and lounged around being lazy the whole day.....I loved it :)

Sunday we had a family get together at my sisters house (it was an accident that it happened but a good accident). We had a ton of people there and had a great time :)

Here is my update now I am going to lunch.

Have a great Tuesday!!!

Sounds like a great weekend Pennie! Our weekend was spent at the new house, getting some things ready for move-in day! Today is my meal planning day too! I'm not sure what to plan though as the move will be busy and I'm not sure I'll have a lot of time to cook for a few days ;) Can you say take-out?!

ha ha I love Jodie already!! ;) At Christmas we accidentally (in the dark) tried to deliver cookies to the wrong house... and they guy said to us... we'll we don't know you but we'll invite you in if you give the plate of cookies... he beat us to the witty punch! ;)

anyway... so glad you got to relax at a retreat!! You do need to delegate more girl!!! Hope your time with Jodie was wonderful!!

I played in the snow Thurs/Friday and put my back out... so I spent my weekend on the couch!! *sigh* ;)

Make sure you get photos!!!
So glad it was awesome. I bought the Sara Groves cd a month ago so I could memorize it then didn't end up going to the concert! Kayla had her last high school basketball conference game that night and I wanted to support her. Glad I went, it's the best game she's had her whole career :)
Saturday I could have gone, should have gone actually. I even prayed for God to wake me up between 6 and 6:30. He woke me up at 6:15 and I STILL didn't go. Thought of 100 reasons why I needed to be home. One was because Todd was home and I didnt see him much last week. I apologized for not obeying when He woke me up and then he
worked some awesome blessings in my life the very next day (which I plan on writing about on my blog this week).
Talk soon friend XO <3
