Wrappin' It Up

Friday. Whew! It's been a bugger of a week. Two weeks, actually. Last week, I didn't feel real great - this week it's been kind of a tough one, too.
But, I'm on an upswing...I can feel it!
I had a humbling one last Sunday.
The fam went to the Wilds game.
For those of you who aren't into the cold-weather sports...
The Wilds are our Minnesota hockey team.
You know...

We were raised/ With the stick/ And a pair of blades/ On the ice we cut our teeth/ We took our knocks/ In the penalty box/ Our mother was the referee/ This sport was here/ Before we came/ It will be here when we're gone/ The game's in our blood/ And our blood's in the game/ Lay us down under/ A frozen pond/ We will fight to the end/ We will stand and defend/ Our flag flying high and free/ We were born the child/ Of the strong and wild/ In the state the state// Of hockey A big blue line runs around our state/ A line that can't be crossed/ The day they try to take this game/ Is the day the gloves come off/ We will fight to the end/ We will stand and defend/ Our flag flying high and free/ We were born the child/ Of the strong and wild/ In the state the state Of hockey. ChaCha on!

Ahem - anyway - like I was saying - we were at the Wilds game and we were in the parking structure on the 3rd floor and we were waiting for the elevator...because we had to go up to like the 8th floor to get to the skywalk to get to the stadium. I haven't done flights of stairs in months, so I didn't know if I even could since I got MS last Spring. Mike thought it was best to catch the elevator up. Well, every time the elevator got to our floor, it was packed full of people like a can of sardines. We laughed every time it opened up, because it was ridiculous...and pretty soon it was like 20 minutes before game time. So, we just decided to risk taking the stairs - because, really - I could probably do it! So, we started up the stairs and it was going fine - up to the fifth floor or so...and then it happened - I tumbled down...it's not even like I felt like my legs gave out or anything. Just - wham! I was on my face. And there was a crowd of people behind me all the way down the stairs...so I fell INTO them...and they were like "WHOA!"

Everyone asks, "Did you get hurt?"

Only my pride!

That's how my week started out. Then, Monday was the vague incident that I handled well - thank you very much - but I initially got really angry about (which is very out of character for me...). But, I must say...I admitted that I was angry - and that's good! And, I appreciate that I felt comfortable being real SOMEWHERE (here, on my blog) and I felt like you - my regular bloggy friends and two of my real-life friends (who happen to read my blog now and then - Shelly and Heather) heard about it, too and it really helped me just to vent. And I must tell you all that Mike helped me fix the problem as much as it will get fixed for the moment. And, I'm over it. Whew! Thanks for being there. I feel really blessed to have you for friends, though - you really are important to me!

So...what's on your agenda for the weekend? Let me tell you about what I'm up to. First, let me give you some background on what I'm up to. Let me make a short story long (It's my way... ;) ) Mike and I met at work. (When I was interviewing he and his best friend were scoring the interviewees on a scale of 1-10 by looks with scorecards and showing the HR Mananger...I know, how chauvenistic...right? But, I DID win... ;) ) Anyhow, his best friend and our co-worker was Mark. I was actually good friends with Mark before I was friends with Mike. Mike moved away for a while, and Mark stayed put. Mark drove me to work when my car was on the fritz. Mike moved back, and then shortly after that, we started dating. Mark was like my big brother. Mark had a nephew named David. He was just a little kid when we were knocking around back then, but he often accompanied us when we'd go fishing and stuff. We often did stuff with Mark's family. David's brother is a famous wildlife artist (Scott Zoellick - ever heard of him?) and Mark managed his artwork, along with other artists - so we went to a lot of sports shows with Mark and Scott. Well, several years ago, Mark died of melanoma. When we lived in Eau Claire, David ended up going to college there, so we were like his pseudo-parents. He was over all the time. I remember Aaron used to crawl up his body like a jungle gym! (That's not going to happen anymore, since Aaron may be taller than David, now!) After Mark's funeral, and we moved, we lost touch with David.

Recently, we started receiving emails from David - basically, we have a lot of the same mutual friends, and our email is probably on the same master list for sending out mass jokes and stuff. Anyhow, we just asked where he ended up. Come to find out, he's only about a half hour from us! (He was about 300 miles away before!)

So (I told you I made a short story long!), David's coming to dinner tomorrow. I'm making lasagna and key lime blueberry cheesecake. We have the worst choices for bread in the stores around here, so I'm going across the river into Bayport, MN to their Breadart store to get some good bread to go with it. I want everything to be perfect. Bridgette promised to help me scrub down all the floors and everything, since I've been feeling crummy. God gave me such a gift in that girl!

Thanks for reading this novel to the end. Today I'm up for rambling, I guess. I do hope you have a great weekend! Please let me know what YOU'RE up to...I'd love to read about it. Whatever you do, I hope it's a good one! Make it count!

How exciting that David is coming for dinner! That will be so much fun :)

This weekend....yesterday I was at my sisters house cause my cousin who I have not seen in 5 years came to visit us (we share a birthday and when we were little we used to be the best of friends...we are 3 years apart). We had so much fun chit chatting and catching up.

Today I am going to one of my oldest closest friends birthday party (I don't know yet if I am going in the afternoon or at night...I need to call for details).

Tomorrow I am going to clean my house from top to bottom to so I can get some realtors here next week to take pics and start to advertise this place for sale :)

Side note.......I am moving to Elizabeth City, NC. It is about 1.5 hours from VA Beach. I have always loved it there and so have the boys. Which is one of the main reasons why I am moving there.....do it all for my boys, right :)

Have a great weekend!!!

That's so cool that David lives so close now! Good for you!
We had such a full weekend, my youngest was just worn out. Almost every minute planned. You'd think she'd be glad to go back to school today... but nope.
