Did you have a fun weekend??? I sure did! It always seems so short come Monday...when I'm hitting the alarm at 5am! How come it seems that I can wake up bright and chipper on the weekend with no problem - ready to face the day, and then Monday I am dragging in the morning, until I get my cup of coffee and take the dog for her morning walk? (I guess a blast of 16 degree air and a walk through the blowing snow at 5:30am will wake up the living dead, huh? If I'm not awake by the time we make it down the street and back, then there's no hope for me!)
Saturday, Bridgette and I had to go shopping for some shoes and replacement makeup for me. It seems like I run out of mascara and eye shadow at the same. I needed shoes to go with the dress I was wearing Saturday night. We had a company dinner party to go to with the VP's, Pres and owner's of the company Mike works for. Mike's been in that group for 6 years now, so it's pretty fun going to these parties...I finally know these couples well enough - and they're not snobby or anything like some people can be. Everyone's very down to earth. We went to this restaurant in St. Paul that is housed in an old, three-story Victorian mansion. Supposedly, it was supposed to haunted! Well, I don't know about that...but the food was excellent! And, I had perhaps the best time I've ever had at one of these dinners. I think it's because we've developed relationships with a few of these couples over the years, so it's like a date more than an obligation.
And, yesterday after church we headed to my mom's to help her out with a few things. Mike had to install a few faucets that weren't working right and hang a blind in her window that she had fixed. She's in the process of having a four-season room built onto her house with a big patio door. She has deer and bear that walk right into her yard, so she calls it her "backyard show." She has some amazing pictures of them! It's been a good thing to do - building this room - to pass the time this long, snowy, cold winter...last winter she was in shock because my dad had just passed away, and this winter I think would have been really lonely otherwise. Anyhow, we helped her out all afternoon.
We had to be back home by evening though, because I had another commitment. My friend's mom , a Christian comedienne, was booked to speak at a women's event at my church. She's from the town I used to live in - about 65 miles away. I knew she was booked to speak at this women's event, so I had been emailing her, telling her I would attend. The women's ministry leader had heard that we were friends, so they had me introduce her! That was pretty cool (except, I didn't know she would ask me to do that until a few minutes before and I was dressed like a slob - in sweater and jeans, because we just came from my mom's...65 milies away...but I'm glad she did, anyway). The evening was a treat. I arranged to meet about 15 or 16 of my SAMmy's friends there, so we had more than the normal amount at our round table (we squished a bunch of chairs in...I think there were originally 8 chairs that fit comfortably there...) It was really fun. It was like a dinner theater atmosphere. The women's ministry did a GREAT JOB!
So...now it's Monday. Sigh. I have a pretty busy week. (Seems like that's a pattern...but, that's okay...I'd rather be busy than bored. Wouldn't you?) I have a day full of meetings tomorrow (Board Meeting 50 miles away then Small Group Leader Meeting back here), I need to get a gas fireplace repairman here, Friday the fam is going to my friend Robbin's for dinner and of course I have SAMmy's on Wed. Oh - and I need to get my house SPOTLESS by the weekend! Do you know why? Of course you do! The SUPERBOWL!!!!! The beloved Packers have made it to the Superbowl, so we have to celebrate! I'm really excited because Mike has actually initiated the idea to have a Superbowl party!!! Yeah! So, I'm up for ideas for Superbowl party treats...give 'em to me...send me your best! I want this to be a smashing success! I'm excited! I love, love, love parties like this....theme parties are right up my alley...and to have hubby initiate one and give me the green light to plan it????...whoo hoo!
So - it's going to be a good one, bloggy buddies! What are your plans for the week????

I just want to make it through the week! 5am, eh?! That's about the time my wife rolls out of bed, all happy and excited to face the world. I don't function at that time of the morning, ever! The two of you ought to meet, one day.
yikes... I could NOT wake at 5 or 6 am!!! =) I admire you even more now!! We don't do the superbowl at all... we usually do something fun with the kids... since the rest of the world is quiet!! I really need to take the kids to buy new clothes... b/c they are living in highwaters right now... ever growing little turkeys! it is hard to buy them clothes b/c they are the thinnest children alive ... and TALL!! sheesh! the Gap Jeans work for Abby... but Sammy still doesn't do jeans... with low muscle tone he doesn't button well... anyway...
(you are right I am tired lately... sore throat... lots of sleeping... I wonder if it is mono??!) I put off cleaning with my little man and let his room stay messy... but I have been working hard to keep my glass half full these days... *which then makes me think... too hard** I am cutting back coffee too... and sweets... yikes... no wonder... lol!! I even had a massage last week... such a treat... but it only relaxed me for a day! =( sniff...
You went to Forepaugh's! I've heard the food is good, but I've never been.
Congrats on your Packers! That would be so cool if the Vikings ever made it, so I can imagine how happy you are.
We DID go to Forepaugh's! You guessed right, CM! The food was GREAT!!!! And, we didn't see any ghosts, either!
I have a hard enough time with 5:45. There is NO WAY I could handle 5 am. UGH! I tried a new recipe for a type of slider sandwich this weekends and the guys all gave a BIG thumbs up! I am going to try to post the recipe tomorrow.
My dog would have to walk herself at 5:30am!!
That would of been a cool restaurant to eat in. I would of been looking for Ghosts the whole time.
I think you and I are the only ones up that early!
Sounds like a busy but productive and fun weekend! On Superbowl Sunday, I always cook chili and serve it with big cheese buns. Not sure what we are doing this year, it's hard with 3 little kids who have no interest in the game ;)
I'm up that early too Jen!!
My Aunt and Uncle live in the Poconos and they have a Backyard Show too :) I used to love to visit them when I was little and feed the deer. We used to sit in their big huge window and watch as the animals came up and ate. The bears always made me nervous though :)
It sounds like you had a great weekend and I think next weekend sounds like a blast too :)
Have a great Tuesday!
YES I would always rather be busy than not! And you are such a good mommy to be walking your dog at 5 in the morning when it's this cold. :)
How exciting you get to have a Superbowl party!! I don't know what we are doing yet but Matt is SO unbelievably excited so I know we'll be watching somewhere. :)
Have a great week!
