My Dusty Self

Yesterday I got a chance to have lunch with my friend Michelle. I used to talk to her practically every day, but circumstances in her household have made it so she had to get a job.
It's been tough - but I'm so proud of her! She's got a really great attitude and she's doing really well for herself.
She even treated me to lunch at one of our new favorite haunts - Urvan Olive and Vine. (Thanks, Michelle!)
We were discussing how difficult life can be, and she said that all we can do is take the opportunities God lays before us and try our hardest.
She is trying her hardest.
We discussed that passage about how "we're only dust - we can only do so much..." We were referring to the Bible passage in Psalm 103:

"As a father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.
For he knows our frame;
he remembers that we are dust."

He knows our limitations. Again, Michelle said she was trying her hardest. I know she is. She said that on her tombstone she was going to have them inscribe, "Here lies Michelle. She tried....really hard."

I laughed. I said I was going to have them inscribe on my tombstone, "Here lies Pennie. She did pretty good...for dust."
