Well, I had book club scheduled for this morning. It ended up being cancelled because our area schools were delayed 2 hours, due to the weather, and it was too difficult to reschedule in December.
I have to tell you, I'm relieved!
Not because I don't love book club - I really like it a lot! The book we were reading - our classic for the year - Fahrenheit 451 - was kind of odd, but once I read the blip at the end about the purpose for the author's writing it, it made sense. I'm not much of Sci-Fi buff, so this one was a stretch for me.
The real reason I'm relieved that book club was cancelled is because I have a really busy December...and things really rev-up this week! I don't mind, but I am glad SOMETHING cancelled...
This whole weekend was about things being cancelled because of the weather. Saturday Mike and I were supposed to go to his company dinner with the owners of the company and the other execs at a fancy restaurant in St. Paul. With the 18-20" of snow we got that day, of course it was cancelled because they even had to pull the plows off the roads, it was that bad! (It was the 5th biggest snowstorm ever recorded in this area...and we get big snowstorms!)
Sunday, church was cancelled (I never remember that happening) and then the Vikings game that we had tickets to was cancelled because the roof of the Metrodome caved in from the weight of the snow.
But, being snowed in isn't all that bad when you have things to do. I got 1/4 of my writing assignments for the month done. That's not much, but it took me from 9am-4pm Saturday...so it's good I had some time to do that!
Mike got a lot of work around here done - house projects. He was spackling walls (that means we get to pick colors for our still-white-walls-since-we-moved-in-4 1/2-years-ago) and hung hooks, organized part of the basement. It was all good.
And, snowed in food! Well, we had all the comfort food that automatically loses all its undesireable qualities like calories and fat content, because - hey - we're snowed in and need to keep warm! So, we had stew, chicken pot pie...and while we watched our DVD in front of the fireplace, we even scarfed down the ice cream...just because we could! I love snowdays! (Probably because Mike does all the clean-up work outside...)
So - today I am determined to get this house in shape and get our food stocked, just in case...I heard on the news last night that Tuesday night we are supposed to get more snow...just 2-3"...but then they said the charts also say it may be 7+", it's just too soon to tell. That's probably part of the drama of the weather report (gotta make it exciting and keep us in suspense!). But, just in case, I think I'm going to get lots of goodies and the makings for stew, bread and chili. Yummy!

You make being snowed in sound like a treat! How did you do that?
We did much of the same...watched DVDs, ate too many calories, and just hung out.
Now praying we don't get MORE snow...yikes!
I love the coziness of snow storms :) I love staying in and laying around in PJ's watching a good movie or movies. All that yummy food helps too :)
Have a great Tuesday!!
I guess the snow is a good thing for once...it's allowing you to get things done! And who doesn't love comfort food while curling up in front of the TV?!
