Holiday Fun Friday

This holiday season I've vowed to focus on the things that really matter.
I am paring down my usual yuletide whirlwind of activities, so that I can bask in the warmth of the peace that the true meaning of Christmas brings.
Much of my holiday decorating has been delegated to other family members...
except for the ornament hanging...because I love to revel in my ornaments - each one carries meaning - I don't have one glass ball or generic ornament hanging on my tree. Each one was a gift or purchased to signify a place we visited or milestone in our lives. My tree is a scrapbook that celebrates the life that God has blessed us with.
I usually do Christmas cookie baking - and I plan on making my famous Sparkling Cutout Cookies (which don't sparkle...so I don't know why they're called that - they are just regular sour cream cut-out cookies that are iced), but I'm saving that for next week, because Bridgette and Aaron need to bring some for their individual youth group meetings next Wednesday night.
And, of course, the kids always get an ornament to signify something that happened this year and a pair of pajamas on Christmas Eve. This year, Mike and I picked up ornaments for them in Glacier National Park when we were there. They are hand painted. One of the ornaments has mountain goats painted on it, and the other has scenery. Very nice.
Today, I chose to do two things that I love about the holidays...both had to do with giving. I had my good friend Shelly over and we wrapped our gifts together. I think I'll make that a tradition! What a fun way to do a tedious task! We got to show off what we bought for our families, and visit while we wrapped away!

The other thing I did today was to pick the winner of the Flipped DVD's - my first Christmas giveaway this year! (I have another coming up...so, stay tuned!)

Shelly was quite the Vanna White...
....and the winners are...

Shelly Kurtzhals from I Like The Way You Do and McVal from Sew Not My Day! (Shelly said she was trying to pick herself, but - alas! - she didn't!) Congratulations, ladies! I think you'll really like the movie - it's cute! Shelly and I watched it while we were wrapping gifts today. Sweet, sweet, sweet! I'll get your addresses and we'll get this to you in time for Christmas!

I hope you all find time to do things today that help you enjoy this usually busy season! Have a great weekend!

Wrapping already??? Ugh, I haven't even started!

PS. I have two gigantic boxes in the back of my minivan, one is a play kitchen, the other a play grocery cart for my boys. Wanna help wrap those??? :-)

I love the idea of a wrapping party. It look like you ladies and Angel had a great time wrapping presents :) I brought wrapping paper and a big box full of presents with me to work today and I am going to try to wrap some presents during my slow time....I sure hope I get some slow time :)

Congrat to the winners of the Flipped DVDs :)

What a great way to make wrapping fun! I loathe wrapping gifts...it doesn't help that I'm not very good at it ;)
