Weekend Update

Well, my weekend was a fun one - how about yours? I hope all my mommy friends got the spoiling they deserve! :)

Friday, I had some things to do around the house, but my friend and partner-in-crime Shelly did her job by calling me up and talking me into shirking my responsibilities and heading to town and bumming for a few hours in the morning. We decided to call it "Celebrating Cinco de Mayo a Day Late." We only decided to call it that when we saw a Mexican restaurant and decided to have lunch there, but, hey - it was as good as excuse as any to be out on the town on a Friday morning. Shelly needed to get to town to pick up some stuff at a beauty supply store, and she was going to pick up something for her mom for Mother's Day (we never did get to that...). But, the most fun thing we did Friday morning was this:
Shelly treated me to a pedicure. It was my first, other than the ones Shelly had given me (she's a cosmotologist). But, this was fun because we sat side-by-side and got them done together. Very nice!

When I came home, I kicked it in high gear and did my housework. I had to, because I had played all morning with Shelly! ;) My sister Deanna called. She calls me on her day off every week and we end up talking for about an hour and a half or two hours every week! If you didn't guess, we're very close. :) We have the same cell phone carrier, so it's free if we talk on our cell phones. Well, we talked only for about an hour and a half (only!) and my phone died! I figured it was probably the battery (I should have charged it before...I usually do, but I forgot this time. Drat!), so I stuck it on the charger. Dea called my land line and we joked that Mike probably put a limit on the time her number could last on my cell number. (He laughed when I told him that...said that would be a good idea...lol) Well, after an hour on the charger, my phone still didn't charge! In fact, it kept going on, then off. Weird. I took it into the phone store and they told me it was broken!!! (Mike had a hey day with that one! Deanna and I talk too much, too long, yada, yada, yada....hardy har har...) Anyhow, I had to get my number changed to a spare phone for the time being and I they're sending a replacement that will be Fed-Exed over tomorrow. Sigh. I miss my phone! (I can't use this spare as well, because I'm not used to it...and it's not as new, so it doesn't accept media messages like bigger pictures, so I'm missing out on things my friend Heather is sending me! Drat!) The moral of the story? My sister and I talked so much, we broke a phone! Not really...but maybe...lol.

Saturday I vistited my Mom's to celebrate Mother's Day a day early. We went shopping to Younker's - our favorite store in her hometown. She bought me a pair of shorts I wanted for my mother's day gift (she insisted...I love my mom!) and I bought a tee and cami to go with them. She bought a spring jacket and five or six shirts for herself. Fun, fun, fun! I took her out to Panera's for lunch and then we hung out at her place and chatted for a while, before I headed home. It's always fun spending time with my mom.

Sunday, I woke up and got ready for church. When I came out to the breakfast table, I had flowers & a card from Mike, a pottery dish Bridgette made and an itunes card from Aaron. Sweet. And, all my meals were made by my family yesterday. What gourmet things did we have, do you ask? Uh...my family relies heavily on me for the cooking...I just wanted to not be stuck in the kitchen. Don't laugh...we had turkey sandwiches for lunch. And do you know what we had for dinner? Nachos and a movie! It was actually wonderful!!! And - Bridgette made Bisquick shortcake and cut up strawberries and put whipped cream on top! We had quite a feast! And, really? I love nachos! We have them every Christmas Eve. So, I suppose they figured they were special fare. They wouldn't tell me what we were having. They were so excited! ;) I didn't have to cook. That's all I cared about. And, I got exactly what I wanted.

Now to clean up after a day of not being in charge of the clean-up. They tried...but it's time for me to grab the reins again. The kitchen isn't exactly clean. :)

How was your Mother's Day?

From beginning to end, you had it perfect! I never would have thought to have nachos for dinner, but I think I'd love that!

Sorry about your phone, but it does make for a good story!

What a nice weekend! We celebrated Cinco De Mayo on Friday night too. We call it Ses De Mayo and went to Carlos O'Kellys. The Mexican/Irish restaurant in town...

I hear ya on the phone thing ... my sister and I are usually on the phone EVERY DAY ... but right now she's sick and has no voice ... and somehow that makes me really miss her!
