We're In Deep

Last week was lovely! Sunshine and in the upper 60's. Ah - beautiful weather, in my book. The week or two before that the weather was a bit wetter.

Quite a bit.

We've had some serious flooding in these parts. A town about two hours from here (Arcadia, WI) even got closed down...the whole town! Schools were closing early and were even off. Not here in my hometown, but near here.

Yesterday, Bridgette and I went for a stroll in Lakefront park (which is, ironically, along the river...). Well, we tried to walk along the path at Lakefront park. We saw some odd sights.

That's a picnic table way out in the river! The river has encroached far into the park. There is usually a bank and a walkway at least 40 feet from those tables, and the river runs past that!

There were a few who enjoyed the flooding, though!

(I was testing out my black and white settings on some Hudson sights. I still had it on when I took these waterfowl shots.) :)

The seagulls were having a blast, along with the geese and the ducks! See the bench in the background? That used to be in the middle of the park!

This is just priceless! How do you know your park is flooded?
When you can tie a rowboat to a tree, and it's in line with a
park bench and garbage can.

Well, later this week I'll show you my black and whites of downtown Hudson. I'll take you on a tour of my town!

I enjoyed seeing your pictures. Looks like you have had lots of rain like we have over the past week. Look forward to the tour of your town.

Wow...that is a lot of rain! Who would think flooding in October?!

I see you get some Canada Geese down there! Aren't they precious?! ;) More like poop monsters!

Oh dear. The rowboat and park bench are quite the sight!

PS. I tried to find your email, but your profile doesn't link back to it. Email me when you get a chance. I was going to answer your question you left me on my blog. Here's my email: alittlelilac@yahoo.com

I love Hudson, it's such a cute town! Those are some crazy pictures though, can you believe how high it is right now!? I have never seen it this bad in the Fall. Matt was saying they are worried if it doesn't go down what it's going to be like in the Spring. Stillwater is looking the same way, water is only a few feet from the bridge.
