An Ode To Chocolate

Man, oh, man...time flies!

It seems like only yesterday when my little boy Aaron would beg and beg for chocolate. Oh, wait - that WAS yesterday! My son LOVES chocolate; he always has! I think from the time he had his first taste of chocolate (his first birthday cake), he was hooked! He would do ANYTHING for chocolate...still will.

Wasn't he a cutie???? Still is. :) We have a Bixler tradition - the day before a Bixler child's birthday I have to make their cake. HAVE TO! When they were little, they'd help me make it. (Bridgette still helps me...Aaron? Not so much anymore - but when he was a toddler....it was COOL then to operate the mixer and get to lick the beater!)

Every birthday cake of Aaron's since the very first has been chocolate - per his request. The reason we have to make the cake the day before is because the morning of the "big day" the birthday child and their sibling get BIRTHDAY CAKE FOR BREAKFAST!!! This is a HUGE DEAL in our house, because we generally eat healthy. The kids go wild for this tradition! This morning was no exception as my 15 YEAR OLD BOY (oh. my. gosh!!!!) dug into his requested "Deep Chocolate Raspberry Cake" (recipe is on allrecipes.com). He and Bridgette were all smiles. Of course, a piece of cake wasn't enough, so he followed it up with waffles. But, it started his day out right!

Nothing like 60,000 fat calories for breakfast to give you a good sugar high! Tonight it's lasagna and more cake along with presents. A pretty good gig.
Happy Birthday Aaron!
