We usually meet at Robbin's house - which is SUCH a beautiful place! It's just gorgeous...it's like going to a spa every week, I'm telling you! Well, this morning we had to change things up and have it here at my house, because I had a sofa being delivered. (They were excited to be part of the action!!! Once the summer's over and the kids are occupied again, the loveseat arrives and our home theater is in full operational order, it has been decided that one of our mornings will be dubbed "chick flick day" and we will be meeting here again...)
But this morning, I was so happy our stinky garbage (remember? fish parts?) was being hauled away. Thursday is garbage day in my subdivision. Yeah! Anyhow...guess what? Due to the holiday...not so. TOMORROW it will be hauled away...oh, well...the "fragrance" was at least hauled to the end of the driveway...away from the house a tad...
But then I opened the pantry to...black bananas. Darn it! Everyone BEGGED ME to get more this time. BEGGED - do you hear me??? So, I did - not a ton more, either. But, we were playing on the boat all weekend, and bananas are NOT good boat food...so they sat...and blackened. So the kitchen smells a little...bananaee? They're not really BLACK, BLACK...not yet. Tomorrow is banana cake and banana bread day - it's supposed to be cooler and rain, so that's a good activity. Michelle wants me to go garage saling, but I won't in poor weather - and I have a coffee date with a writer friend of mine (I remembered well ahead of time, Diane!) in the morning. But, it's an afternoon of baking. My family deserves it - I haven't exactly been Suzy Homemaker lately.
Anyhow, between bananas and fish guts, I had some fragrances going on here. Guess what? Both my friends showed up with flowers for me this morning! (I DO have the best of friends, don't you all agree?) Funny thing is, they both brought peonies from their gardens!!! (And they didn't even plan it that way! Neither had any idea the other was bringing a thing!) And, Bonnie had bought each Robbin and I a scented candle from Coldwater Creek. What a fun morning!
Robbin brought these:
Now, I'm happy to report I have much better fragrances going on. And then, Shelly - my "partner in crime" friend...who lately has been my "MIA friend" because she's been on a mission trip to Haiti and then catching up on all her work since her mission trip to Haiti...she called and we escaped our housework for a while and went to my FAVORITE restaurant - San Pedro Cafe - in downtown Hudson...this cute little bistro. We got a little table on the patio and shared a couple of appetizers - and the waiter called me "Hon" (unlike the furniture delivery youngster who called me "Maam'"!!!!) and it was just a glorious day!!!!
But, now it is 3:45. I don't know where my daughter is. She is usually home by 3:14. But it's Thursday...she has had Young Naturalists in the past until 4pm on Thursdays, but I thought that was over...there's only one more week of school...hmmm....but maybe that was a different club she was in on Tuesdays. I refuse to panic until I go to pick her up and she's not there. I'm sure she will be. I think I went through this last week. The teacher leading the group isn't the best at communicating the date - she's kind of free-spirited...or, maybe it's my DAUGHTER, who doesn't get the info to me (which is also a possibility, because she is also free-spirited/air headed...with a genius I.Q.) - and I am just like her (minus the genius I.Q., I'm afraid...). So, maybe she told me and I wasn't listening, or didn't write it down. Hmmmm... Which is why I won't panic.
Yet.
But aren't my flowers pretty? :) Think happy thoughts, bloggy friends!!!! Have a great day!!! Oh, and don't worry about Bridgette - if I REALLY thought that there was a huge danger of her not being at school, I REALLY wouldn't be so flippant...just so you know, I'm just being kind of silly...sort of.
:)
P.S. - I did pick up Bridgette and she was VERY LATE (and unaware). She was celebrating her "appointment" to "Co-President" of next year's Young Naturalists Club. I think I will just tell myself the club meets until 4:30 next year...because she is habitually late, and the teacher doesn't seem to notice that none of the kids leave their club (except for one or two) on time. So, 4:30 it is!!! :) All is well.
