Well, I survived the grill last night. I am not even singed a LITTLE BIT. Are you proud of me? We had the most delicious chicken apple brats, too...and curly fries. Mmmm...
Mike says that sooner or later we'll get a new grill.
I should hope so! Goliath is crabby in his old age! (For those of you who didn't read yesterday's post - I call my old propane grill Goliath...because he scares me!)
This morning, Bridgette and I went to Shelly's. Shelly's daughter Hannah and Bridgette are friends. The four of us had some FANTASTIC scones that Shelly made us with some yummy cream and jam. (Thanks, Shelly!) Shelly also painted my toenails and fingernails...because she's nice like that. :) She's my FAB hairdresser and does a great job at painting nails. I don't do the greatest job since my hands don't work the greatest anymore. Every now and then she tells me to bring a bottle of polish over, and she gives me a mani/pedi. You all need to get yourselves a Shelly. Really, you do.
Anyhow, I've been telling people that school starts on Monday. I even corrected my hubby when he was on the phone with his brother, who lives an hour away. (Just wait until I have to eat humble pie when Mike gets home for dinner tonight....ugh.) Shelly and I were in her kitchen and she mentioned that the kids start a week from today. I said, "You mean Monday?" She chuckled and said, "No, Wednesday." We had a good laugh - because I had the DATE right - they start the first...but I thought the first was Monday. Just then the girls (Bridgette and Hannah), who were out on the trampoline in the yard pipe up and Hannah yells, "Mom, school starts on Wednesday, right???" Apparently, Bridgette believes her mom and was sticking to her guns, telling Hannah that they start on Monday. I yelled out the screen door, "Hannah, YOU start on Wednesday, but BRIDGETTE starts on MONDAY. I need a break! I'm sending her to school!" Both kids looked confused, but then Bridgette started laughing, because she knows her mom - I'm a little crazy.
I later explained the whole thing to Bridgette and we both had a good laugh and she said that she knows who she gets her air-headedness from.
I, of course, threw a pillow at her.
We really are very much alike.
Poor Bridgette!

I love this story! I do have my own Shelly - his name is Monte! He has been amazing about painting my toenails for me ever since my belly got too round to bend that way! You know what? He really does a good job, too! It's quite amazing :)
Missing you - hope that we can find time to get together soon! Hugs!
I'm so glad you made it through the grilling experience sans burns!
Well, who starts school on Wednesdays, right? Us too....
Hi Pennie, just caught up on your blogs, sorry I missed your birthday, can tell it was a good day for you, reading your 43 randum thoughts, we are very alike........ especially the loud bit.... just know that if we lived closer we would be great friends. Good luck with the back to school our children were off for 6 weeks during the world cup it was a nightmare, and cost a fortune but the back to school was worse everything had "disappeared" and we had to have a shopping expedition. keep well my friend.
Yay...no singing accidents! Can I call you David ;)
I have those moments all the time! I'm always getting mixed up...it's called mommy brain. That's my excuse and I'm stickin' to it!
Glad you are still in one piece after grilling... but I am still staying away from mine thankyouverymuch!! ;)
You are blessed to have a Shelley!!
