Wednesday, at SAMmy's, I was telling the women about the Bible study we are going to be studying. The curriculum is called "Relationships of The Shepherd King" and it's about King David. I told them that the story is from around 1000 BC, and they will be amazed at how contemporary the lessons are! I assured them that in past years it's been proven that week after week the women who attend SAMmy's constantly make comments like "That study was written just for me!" or "Each week, the lesson speaks to an issue I'm facing in my life...how does that happen so consistently?" I told them that this was because the Bible is a unique book and is based on God's wisdom, not man's. Man's wisdom is limited - and often not wisdom at all. I used the following ad that was printed in magazines in 1947 to illustrate my point on the limited confines of man's wisdom. I must say, it was a great point for conversation!
This was not that long ago...
Strange, isn't it? There were a whole series of magazine ads and posters like this, with the tag line "More Doctors Smoke Camels Than Any Other Cigarette." That was in the mid- to late 1940's.
We are not as smart as we think we are...
It makes you wonder what our grandkids will be looking back at and shaking their heads in wonder about what we're promoting in 2010.

This makes me think about how when Tyrique was born over 13 years ago they said babies should always sleep on their sides and now they are supposed to only sleep on the backs. When I was born my Mamma was told to put me on my stomach only. They change this every few years and I swear I don't think anyone knows what is really best....they just say this to make themselves sound good :o) LOL
So life is about to go back to "normal" for me. I have no clue what normal is right now because life has been turned upside down for so long. My Dad is going to make sure my apartment is done today so I can move back home tomorrow. I am so excited....that means I can finally start blogging again and I will have time for myself!!! I have been working on the apartment everyday all day and when I am working I come home and change into my nasty paint covered clothes and go right back to working on the apartment. I dunno what I am gonna do with myself now!!!
I am going to get back to reading your blog and everyone elses. Have a great weekend!!!
Such a good point! You are an awesome Bible teacher! It always amazes me when i turn to scripture and God seems to direct me right to the perfect passage. It's so cool how that works!
Wow, that is definitely something to think about.
I like how you said "we think we're so smart" That is so true and it's sad, isn't it? Thankfully we have such a patient Father. :)
I think about that all the time! Like all the vitamins and minerals we are told to take...makes ya wonder what will be labelled as "bad" in 10 or 20 years! Or the teflon in pans or all the plastics we use....UGH. We are doomed!
