5QF Labor Day Style

Welcome to Five Question Friday...where Mama M. takes questions from her readers, and we all answer them! I try to play as many Fridays as I can, because it's fun, it's fab, and it's ALL THE RAGE!!!! So, head on over to Mama M's by clicking on the icon above and join the blog hop that bloggers everywhere look forward to every Friday!

If you've never played along with us before...we've missed you! This a the most fun (and easiest) blog hop around! Trust me. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!

1. What do you do when you have time to yourself?
I assume this question means when I have free time to myself to spend however I like - not when I'm just alone, right? Because when I'm alone, I usually find myself cleaning the house...
But during my free time I like to read. I also like to shop. Those are pretty much my "alone" activities. I LOVE to call up a girlfriend/sister/mom and go out for coffee or lunch, or see a movie, go shopping or to garage sales, or just visit. I'm pretty social.
2. When you look out your kitchen window, what do you see?

This was taken last fall or the fall before. There are a bunch of turkeys there in our front yard. That cross-shaped thing is our multiple bird feeders - we get bluebirds, cardinals, orioles, finches of all colors, robins - it's so fun to watch from our kitchen table!
3. Who/What would you want to be reincarnated as?
Mama M. said not to get your undies in a bundle over this question - and I had to laugh. For the record, I don't believe in reincarnation...but I realize this question is just for fun. So, I want to be reincarnated as:

My dog Angel. She's a tad bit spoiled. And, she gets to sleep all day...and nobody complains. There's a reason there's the expression, "It's a dog's life!"
4. What is your biggest pet peeve about other people's kids?
General selfishness gets my goat. You know the stuff - a child who takes another child's things so they can get what they want, a child who fusses until they get their way, a child who belittles another to make themselves feel good - those things get under my skin. (And I REALLY hate it when it's my child...and MAN, it's embarrassing when it's my INNER CHILD!!!)
Now, before you think that all kids do this - realize that my kids are teenagers...so, the kids that I deal with are usually high-school age...so when they do this, they are doing this deliberately, and manipulatively.
And, I'm happy to say that I almost NEVER have to deal with this kind of behavior...just when I'm chaperoning or helping out in class. :)
ALMOST never. I'm still dealing with humans...
5. Regular or Diet soda?
Oh, you mean POP????
I used to love Diet Coke, until I started taking this prescription migraine medicine about 5 years ago. Pop was more like a treat than a daily or even weekly drink for me - and more like a monthly thing for my family at the time. My son and I had been out grocery shopping (I had been taking my migraine meds for about two weeks, or a month a the time). I bought both my son and I a Diet Coke. I took a sip of mine and I said, "Oh, Aaron - something's wrong with my pop! I think they got the formula wrong or something. Is yours okay?" He said it was fine. Later, he tasted mine and said it tasted fine. It was then I remembered that in the listing of common side effects it does list "taste changes." I took another look and it specifically listed carbonated drinks. Weird, hey?

How fun was that???!!! I hope you all have a fun Labor Day weekend planned! I'm spending it with Mike's parents and his brothers' families. We'll be boating and playing board games all weekend, I'm sure - if the weather holds out. I've stocked up on some great food. Now it's time to get the rest of my cleaning done! Have a good one! I hope to read all your comments - so be sure to leave them...they make my day!!!

I call it "Pop", too. Haha. Oh, and I almost picked being reincarnated as my grama's dog. Talk about spoiled! Eat, sleep and play. I could handle that. :)
I enjoyed your answers! Have a great weekend.

Teenagers are the worst!

I wish something would make POP taste bad for me. My grandma called it Sodie. She lived in south MO.

I never thought shopping alone was fun until I had kids. Just getting to go the grocery store alone is a treat!
