Tomorrow is the kick-off brunch for SAMmy's! I can't wait! I have a bunch of stuff accumulating in my car of things to take - all the place favors and schedules for the year, a bunch of groceries I'm bringing for a "Price Is Right" kind of game. I need to haul up some Rubbermaid tubs full of stuff from my basement that I've been storing all summer that we can only keep at the church during the SAMmy's year. (It will be nice to get that out of my storage area...) I've already touched base with my child care coordinator, my coffee hostess and my administrative asst. and we're all on the same page for the morning.
Today, it's crunch-time. I have to finalize our agenda for tomorrow. I have my small group leaders meeting me today at my house to work out a skit we're performing tomorrow, and to work out some wording on some signs....a bunch of busy-work. I'm really more for the teaching of the lessons and leading small groups than I am putting on these events, so I'm grateful for the help!
My thoughts are turning toward my least-favorite part of this ministry...fundraising. We've got some ideas up our sleeve, but by far one of the favorites of the moms in this ministry (and the community) is our bake sale. We set up a table in front of Wal-Mart for a Saturday morning and sell our goods. The moms love donating their homemade baked goods and showcasing their talents, and the community loves it come autumn! Pies were a favorite last year. It's always fun to see what sells the best.
Just yesterday, I was on Jenn's blog of Seizing My Day and she was blogging about Bakerella's Cake Pops. Jenn said she couldn't find a bookstore with the cookbook in stock...apparently they're all backordered. Well, I had never heard of Bakerella OR Cake Pops. Well, for those of you who are as clueless as I was, THESE are cake pops:
And this month, there's a feature article in here featuring them:
And this is Bakerella:
(I took all these photos from her blog, but I didn't figure she'd mind since I'm promoting her stuff...)
I just thought these Cake Pops were the cutest things! Thanks, Jenn, for mentioning them on your blog! I had to go order a cookbook on-line once I checked it out, and of course they ARE backordered!
If you want to learn how to make these, you can watch this video on Amazon.com:
Link To Cake Pops Video
All you do is crumble cake into crumbs, mix with frosting, roll into balls, freeze for 15 minutes, insert lollipop stick and coat with candy melts. The video is a little more informative than that...but that's the jist of it!!!
I do plan on making some of these for our bake sale, though. You can make them without the stick and put them into candy liners. Cute, cute, cute!!!! I cannot wait to get my cookbook...this is the kind of baking I KNOW will turn out!
Happy Cake Popping!

Looks like you are going to be busy, it is always strange for me how easy it is to fit things in, when you are doing Gods work.... how does the game "Price it right" work, if you don't mind maybe I can use it at one of my woman's teas??
Pennie, how do you find time to write this blog?! You are Wonderwoman!
Those cake pops look delish. I can't wait to see how yours look! I would love to try them...but only after someone else tries them first!
Have fun at your brunch tomorrow. It sounds like it will be a lot of fun.
I love Bakerella. I pre-ordered her cookbook from Amazon so I have it already! Last year I made the pumpkin ones for a fundraiser at our church. They were a huge hit. They are pretty easy to make. The only trouble we had was getting the orange candy things at the right temp for dipping. Make them, you will be a big hit!
I made the cupcakes before, and they are not as easy as they look. She has a website that has the recipes on it.
SAMmy's sounds like so much fun!! I wish we had something like that around here! And those cake pops... yyyuuummmmm!
You have such a wonderful heart! It's awesome you've created a great ministry to dedicate yourself to. I admire you, my friend! Good luck with the fundraising.
