It's tradition.
Seriously.
Shelly and I are professionals at this.
It's our Tuesday game.
The game you don't want to win.
Every Tuesday, Goodwill has $1.49 day.
They dub a certain color tag as their "Tuesday Color of the Day" and whatever items have that color tag, they are only $1.49, regardless of the price on the tag.
Well, sometimes Shelly and I will go to Goodwill on Tuesdays and play "The Game."
The Rules are:
1. Try to get as many items in your cart with the "Color of the Day" tag. (It's really difficult...because inevitably, you'll find other items that you'll need/want for your family that have tags of other colors that you must purchase because they are good deals, but more than $1.49!)
2. The one who pays the most "beats" the other one.
3. You don't want to "beat" the other one.
Guess what???? Shelly beat me today! And I got WAY MORE than she did! (Ha, ha Shelly!!!!)
See what I got:
All this for $23.55! (In Shelly's defense, she only spent about $2 more than I did...) :) In this conglomeration, there are a few Ann Taylor shirts, a New York and Company blouse, Tommy Hilfiger and Hollister shirts, a Talbots shirt and a few others that are pretty pricey if you don't purchase them from GW! ;) *Love it!*
Gotta love the GW game! Most of these items are for Bridgette. Only three are for me. It's fun having a cute little teenie-bopper to dress up! ;)
I love being able to do this with one of my favorite people! And, I can always talk her into going out for a treat afterwards...and this time the waiter didn't even mix our soups up, so we didn't mix germs! ;)

Wow, that is a really good deal!!! I don't have patients for GW :( Digging through piles and piles to find one thing is not my idea of shopping! I must say though that the idea of paying $23 for a ton of shirts is my idea of a good shopping trip! I need to be taught how to shop at the GW....can you come to NC to teach me???
I am the same as Helga. I don't have the patience to dig, and I don't ever find anything I like. I have a friend that can come out with all sorts of stuff, though.
I have a hard time with Goodwill, just because I don't like to be crowded when I'm shopping and it seems people are truly always getting way too close to me when I'm there! My preference is eBay - I can usually find big lots of clothes for Claire at really reasonable prices.
You definitely scored big, though! Proud of you for being such a sensible shopper! :)
We need to get together again soon - I would just LOVE to see you!!
I want to go to GW right now.
Really.
Wow, score! That's crazy, you got a lot of stuff. I always forget about Goodwill, I should check out the kids clothes there since my kids seem to ruin there stuff anyway. :)
Haha I love how competitive you are! Our goodwill sucks... or maybe I'm just not very thrifty? yea, that's probably more like it!
Good deal!!! I love being thrifty like that too.
