Seven Random Facts About Me

I'm just copying an idea I got from my new friend Kami's website. :) (Kami...imitation is the purest form of flattery, my dear!) :) I'm just getting to know her, so all of hers were news to me, but she had some that were SO FUN! I hope you learn a thing or two about me - no matter how well you think you know me!

1. I have been married for 16 1/2 years to Mike. In those 16 1/2 years, we have lived in eleven different homes in three different states.

2. I am mom to two great kids - Aaron (14) and Bridgette (12 1/2) and a dog Angel (almost 2).

3. I was once a field editor for a magazine called "Your Family" that was published by Reiman Publications. It only ran for about a year. Writing's my gig. I write Bible studies through my ministry - publishing a book of 25 annually. I have stories and devotions published in several collections of anthologies and devotionals, along with articles in many magazines throughout the past several years.

4. I have a secret fantasy of going on a week's vacation with my girlfriends, renting a beach house and doing lots of girl-things like shopping, and staying up all night talking and just enjoying ourselves. No boys allowed.

5. I never finished college. I only went one year. I don't feel the need to go back, at this point, either. I have managed to establish a thriving ministry (and taken plenty of classes along the way - and attend the "school of hard knocks", unfortunately...) with the Lord's direction.

6. I can make this amazing "popping" sound with my tongue that can echo in a room. This totally makes up for my lack of a college degree, I think.

7. My mom had a stillborn 2 years before I was born. She named him Daniel. My whole life she told me that she probably wouldn't have had any more children if Daniel had been born, but because she lost Daniel, she went on to have me and my younger brother, David. She always told me, "Pennie, God went through a lot of trouble to get you and David here. God has big plans for you." I always believed her. I still do.

8. Every now and then, I have ice cream for breakfast, just because I am the mom now, and I can. (But I never let my kids or my husband see me do it.)

9. My favorite household chores are vacuuming (everything but the stairs) and hanging clothes on the line. My least favorite are cleaning the bathroom (yuk!) and vacuuming the stairs.

10. There's nothing better than spending time with my girlfriends. Just visiting over a good cup of coffee and a piece of cake, and catching up on life in the kitchen of a good friend or at my own table. What could be better than that?
