Missing Mike

Mike's been gone for five days now. He'll be back on Monday. He works really long hours and he's been looking forward to getting away with his buddies - and when he goes away, I kind of let myself take a little vacation, too. C'mon, girls - I know you do that, too, when your hubbies go away...I'm not the only one...

So, this week we've been eating simple meals. The kids think it's such a treat to be able to eat mac n' cheese - from a box - because they NEVER get to do that! (What a "treat"!) And, we've been playing a LOT.

And, I've still been getting my work done, but I've been letting myself revert back to my old ways...staying up really late watching the shows I want to watch (I am now fascinated with Jon and Kate plus 8...who knew this was on and didn't tell me? I was up until 11:00pm the other night watching episodes! And then I was up until at least that late last night watching Lifetime...the network for women...). I've been ripping apart Bridgette's closet and tagging stuff for a thrift sale for SAMmy's-Hudson and baking a RIDICULOUS amount for a bake sale we're having in the morning. (I do mean ridiculous...what was I thinking????) I have been ironing while watching movies with the kids and entertaining the neighborhood boys since we're the "cool house on the street" for the time being because we have the trampoline in our yard (until the really warm weather when everyone heads across the street to the house with the pool). I've had my hair cut and colored and have been pedicured by a friend (thanks Shelly!) and have spent an evening with my dinner and a movie crew (Michelle and Melissa - we know our next flick, right?).

So, it's really kind of fun visiting this life while Mike's gone - this was the way I used to live life before I was married. But, if I was to be honest with you, I'd have to tell you that I'm looking forward to Mike coming home and rescuing me from myself...because while this kind of life is fast and fun and full - it's also EXHAUSTING. I look forward to when he will come home and drag me to bed at 9:00 pm and have me slow down and eat my vegetables. But, until then I'm going to see what's on the TBS late night movie tonight...and, don't forget to check out our bake sale in front of Hudson Wal-Mart in the morning - I'll be there bright and early!
