Getting Well

I'm a little under the weather today. I had a cist on my right ovary burst, and my abdominal cavity is full of fluid - I look about four months pregnant - not pretty. It's extremely painful, and inconvenient - I've been forced to clear my schedule for the week (except for the things I REFUSE to miss - I'll be there for SALT training Friday...some things are worth muscling through!) and take it easy. I've postponed my board meeting tonight, and I've rearranged other things. All my plans have come to a screeching halt. My housework is undone. The one who does things for others must let herself be taken care of. It's a humbling thing.
But, something special has happened today. Cathy is the one who suggested - practically insisted that we postpone the board meeting (well, Cathy and my mom) and took the initiative to actually set a date for a new meeting. Shelly called to find out how I'm doing and made arrangements to do my grocery shopping tomorrow. Melissa is bringing a rotissere chicken over for dinner tonight. Michelle is bringing me some good DVD's to watch and lunch. Heather called and offered to bring me anything else I need. As soon as Bonnie and Robbin find out, I know they will be by. And these are all sisters in Christ that I don't worry will judge me because my house is messy - because believe me, it IS - I can't get up and clean it first before they get here. But, I know they don't care. All of these women are REAL friends who I can count on to really care and really help out. That really blesses me. They are more than friends. They are my sisters. The Bible says there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. In this case, there is a friend that sticks closer than a sister...and I am so blessed to have many of them. And, today I am blessed to have so many of them teaming up to take care of me. Thank you to all my sisters, and thank you Lord for giving them to me.
