In the event you haven't heard, a neighborhood just a few miles from my home got hit by a tornado last weekend. If you are free Saturday, please join our church in helping with the cleanup - here is a brief excerpt from the invitation from Faith Community Church's website (you can find directions and additional info on Faith's website: www.faithcommunity.info ) :
"Last Saturday night, Mark and Beth Montgomery's home was touched and their yard decimated by a tornado. Mark and Beth were the recipients of a huge outpouring of love on Sunday and beyond as over 100 FCCr's worked on their yard, dealing with some of the damage that was caused. Neighbors were in awe to see the love of God's family on display.
We want to see that awe increase!
FCC has committed to do all it can to clean up the entire neighborhood that was struck by the tornado. We have set aside this Saturday, August 15th from 9:00 am to 7:30 pm as a church wide clean up day. I am hoping hundreds will show up throughout the day to help serve this neighborhood as it recovers from the storm. (Montgomery's live at 661 Walsh Road in Burkhardt Township.) FCC will provide food, water and the opportunity to serve throughout the day (not to mention a porta potty!).
We would like to have the neighbors experience the same outpouring of love that Mark, Beth, Kyle and Matthew have experienced. We think it would please Jesus if this took place. We are not looking for newspaper reporters to show up, simply a chance to help some neighbors who have experienced difficulty...are you in?"
If you'd like to join us, please go to the church's website for more info. I'm going to do what I can with my daughter Bridgette at some point during the day - not sure when, and I'm not sure for how long (I'm on the mend, but I plan on doing all I can...and no, dear friends, I WON'T OVERDO IT...I promise to be smart.) :)
So, if you live in the area, and are free, please join us! Hope to see you there!
