Boundaries

This summer my ministry directors and I put on our SALT conference (SAMmy's Annual Leadership Training) for the leaders of our various Strength Among Moms Ministry Charter groups. We each had a different topic to speak on, and were responsible for creating a useful presentation, complete with power-point and notes for the attendees so they could take away good information and start their SAMmy's year informed and inspired to reach the moms in their community and teach the upcoming SAMmy's curriculum.

My topic was "Boundaries in Ministry." This is an important topic, because ministry can be daunting...everyone comes to the leader for their needs to be met - whether they be personal, spiritual, emotional, financial, etc. A leader has to know how much is her responsibility to take care of and when it's time to refer a woman to somebody else...and how not to feel guilty about it.

I made a point to mention that I was not going to spend time in my talk about how to manage boundaries in our time and energy, since there were plenty of good books and other resources out there that could do a better job at that than I could, and that most of that was common sense.

I think that was a good call on my part...especially after looking at my planner today. I think it proves ANYONE is a better resource on time management/planning than I am! After today I will need a vacation! I have a doctor's appointment in an hour, another doctor's appointment a few hours after that (a different specialist), a dentist appointment two and a half hours after that and a church meeting this evening. Hmmmm...maybe I should schedule in an eye doctor appointment after the dentist?
Ha ha ha ... just kidding.

In my defense, I got a friendly reminder call from the dentist about my appointment last Friday. I forgot I had that appointment. I made it 6 months ago, and forgot to write it in my planner...and the church meeting got put on me last Tuesday...I need to attend. Some weeks are just like that, I guess. Luckily, Mike and Aaron are gone until tomorrow, so Bridgette and I are on our own. She and I are eating frozen meals and she wants to come to church with me tonight...so, no stress! :)

Happy Monday!

Whew! You are a busy busy woman! I think I've misplaced my daily planner. Which is NOT good.
Oh well. My kids will remind me when there's a school concert.

Sounds like a good conference. And yes, your plans do sound like they keep you busy. :)
