I was reading Psalm 19 today, and I was so blessed by King David's words..especially in verses 1-4! I've written his words from the Psalm in yellow regular text, with my own thoughts in black italics and parentheses.
The heavens declare the glory of God;
(I just think of the beautiful, sunny sky I see as I sit and journal on my deck. The sun is shining brightly, like God's glory.)
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
(These white, fluffy clouds and the brightness of the sky this morning surely testifies that there is a Creator - that this masterpiece was painted with His hand.)
Day after day they pur forth speech;
(Even though we don't hear the skies audibly, they speak to us through their beauty and the sun with its heat and light. It is a poetic language all its own.)
night after night they display knowledge.
(The stars and moon and deep evening sky surely shout out the Truth of having been created by the Almighty.)
There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.
(It does not matter if I were in a foreign country, where I did not speak the language - both those native to that country and myself would understand the language of the heavens...if we allow ourselves to gaze at the vast beauty and majesty we will see that something so magnificent is not an accident, but a work of art - by a Creative Being - something larger than ourselves. That message can be understood by anyone, anywhere - foreigner and native alike.)
Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.
Isn't that beautiful? It reminds me of Romans 1:20, "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities - his eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being underestood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." God's creation is there for us to enjoy, to delight in. It ultimately should lead us to marvel at His greatness, majesty and creativity. It should remind us of who He is, and that He is present.
My prayer for you today, my dear SAMmy's Sisters, is to marvel at all He created so that we may rest in the fact that we are children of the Almighty. The Author and Creator of all the world is our Father.
